This is the Rolex Date 1500- arguably the best entry Rolex under $4k when found in good condition, a rarity these days. A piece that was a staple in the Rolex lineup before the days of 40mm+ dinner plate sized pieces, the Rolex Date is subtle, but its quality and craftsmanship is unmistakeable. This particular example rolled out of Switzerland in 1979 and is in standout condition, looking as good or better than some of its 90s-2000s counterparts. Having been professionally refinished, it shows practically no signs of wear as far as scratches. No significant dings or dents to note. The lugs are thick and even. The dial is a knockout for vintage lovers, showing a creamy flat patina on its original silver color and some light oxidation on indices and hands. Most of the tritium lume plots are present behind the indices. There is very light circular marks between the 10 and 11 indices in the upper left quadrant of the dial that is hard to capture on camera, but generally adds to its vintage charm. The movement is functioning as it should and has been timegrapher tested to be keeping time within 10s/d. Photos on timegrapher are available on request.
